Netflix viewers have been left horrified after watching one of the most s**ually explicit films they’ve ever seen.
The 2015 arthouse movie has suddenly gained renewed attention on tiktok as users record and share their reactions to its notably explicit opening sequence.
The trend appears to have originated with TikTok user @Laura2002m1, whose video explaining the challenge garnered 1.4 million views, before being removed from the platform, per decider.
In her words, viewers should: “Watch it on Netflix and use the sound to record yourself watching the very beginning. Like, I mean the very beginning.”

One viewer said: “The opening scene left me completely stunned.”
Another added: “Currently recovering from watching what I naively assumed was just another European romance. The first few minutes were more explicit than anything I expected to find on a mainstream streaming platform. No wonder everyone keeps filming their reactions.”
A third commented: “Had to immediately clear my viewing history and will never again trust TikTok recommendations without thorough research.”
“After seeing all the reaction videos, I thought people were exaggerating. They were not. This makes other controversial films look tame in comparison. Consider this a warning to watch alone and maybe have a glass of wine ready,” somebody else shared.
The scene in question features intimate content that pushes the boundaries of what’s typically available on mainstream streaming platforms.

Originally premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 3D, the Netflix version presents a less immersive but nonetheless striking viewing experience.
