John Travolta Speaks Out About Tragic Death Of Son Jett

Absolutely heartbreaking

The 71-year-old took to Instagram, where he has 5.4 million followers, and paid tribute to his child on what would have been his 33rd birthday.

He captioned the father-son snap: “Happy birthday Jett – I miss you so much! Love you forever!”Travolta’s fans have since taken to the comments section and shared their support for the actor.

One follower writes: “My heart goes out to you. We never lose our children, they’re forever within our hearts. Much love.”A second says: “Happy heavenly birthday, Jett.”

“Happy birthday to a beautiful angel in heaven,” types a third.

Somebody else comments: “Hurts my heart. He was so beautiful. Your strength is incredible. Sending huge love, John.”

Travolta and his late wife, Kelly Preston, welcomed three children: Jett, Ella, and Benjamin.

Preston died in 2020 following a two-year battle with breast cancer. She was 57 years old.

The couple welcomed their first child, Jett, in April 1992.Soon after becoming a father, the Grease star told People: “I can’t imagine what life would be like without Jett.”

“After he was born and cleaned up, I held him for hours while Kelly slept. When they came to take him away for various tests, I said, ‘No, you can’t see him today. You’ll have to do it another day.’ I went a little nutsy,” Travolta recalled.

Tragically, Jett died at age 16 in January 2009 from a seizure while on a family vacation in the Bahamas. He is said to have had a history of seizures.During an on-stage interview at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in central London, Travolta described the death of his teenage son as ‘the worst thing that’s ever happened in my life.’

“The truth is, I didn’t know if I was going to make it,” he shared, per the BBC. “Life was no longer interesting to me, so it took a lot to get me better.”

The Saturday Night Fever star said that the Church of Scientology was vital to his recovery.“I will forever be grateful to Scientology for supporting me for two years solid, I mean Monday through Sunday,” he continued.

“They didn’t take a day off, working through different angles of the techniques to get through grief and loss and to make me feel that finally I could get through a day.”

Travolta has been a follower of the controversial religion since the 1970s.
