The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter has always used music as a mirror for her soul.

From the hit anthem ‘Tik Tok’ to the raw, introspective tracks on her 2023 album Gag Order, Kesha continues to evolve, both in sound and spirit.

Now, at 38, the pop star shared during a recent interview on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up that songwriting is still the key to discovering her own truth.

“Basically, I find that writing songs leads me to my truth,” she said. That truth recently included a major personal revelation – she ended an engagement after listening back to a song she wrote.

“I was engaged and I didn’t wanna be anymore and I didn’t even realize that I was gonna break up with him until I wrote a song about it,” she explained. “And then I listened back to it, and I was like, ‘Oh no, I’m gonna break up with him now,’ but it led me to my truth ’cause I can’t lie in the song.”

“Basically, I find that writing songs leads me to my truth,” Kesha said. “You can’t lie in a song. A, your song will suck, but also, that’s not what it’s there for, you know?”

The song in question, ‘Too Far Gone,’ was reportedly written after the breakup and appears on her last album.

The ‘Blow’ singer has not revealed the identity of her former fiancé but has previously been linked to Michael Gilvary, Riccardo Maddalosso, and longtime partner Brad Ashenfelter.

Alongside revelations about her relationships, Kesha continues to speak openly about her sexuality – a topic she’s long approached with honesty and pride.

According to People , she shared a clearer vision of what she wants romantically. “I have explored non-monogamy. I’ve been in love with many, many men and many, many women,” she said. “And currently where I’m at is I am looking for a sugar daddy.”

“I love being able to just be open and honest about it,” she explained. “Because I’m f***ing into somebody taking care of me, putting me on a pedestal, taking me on their yacht and flying me on their plane. I’m just into it, and I will not feel shame about that.”

The ‘Die Young’ artist said she’s moved on from dating “very cool, very broke hipsters with very bad attitudes,” and is now aiming for “someone that goes to an office building because they own the office building”.

This latest update comes after Kesha’s powerful message to fans during Pride Month in 2022.

In the now-deleted Instagram post, she celebrated her LGBTQ+ identity and reaffirmed her openness about love and attraction.

“In case I haven’t been straight forward enough (LOL), I just wanted to take a sec to tell everyone that you are not only enough, just as you are, but the world is so f**king lucky to have you,” she wrote, cited by Pink news.

“I’m not gay. I’m not straight. I don’t know what I am. I love people. I love people because we are all our own little consciousness journeys, dancing around the sun,” she continued.

“How weird and interesting and fun this life is, right? I refuse to be anything, really, except for open to it all? I know it can be confusing sometimes, but you are so seen and loved. Love u animals, happy pride?” she added.

Kesha has previously identified herself as bisexual. She said in a 2019 interview with Attiude : “I never hid [my bisexuality] from anybody… It was always there.”

“I have always been attracted to the soul behind a person’s eyes. It has never occurred to me to care about a specific gender, or how someone is identifying, to make me wonder about whether or not I’m attracted to them,” she concluded.
