At 78, Trump was the oldest president to take office in January, though his predecessor, Joe Biden, was older at 82 when he left.
In recent weeks, Trump’s tariff trade war has taken over the headlines; however, there has been a slight shift in focus to his physical well-being.
Recent snaps of the president have highlighted his much leaner shape – it’s been suggested he’s lost 30 lbs (2st) since 2022 by swapping fast food for a healthier diet.

Although Trump’s fans praised his apparent weight loss, one doctor warned that significant weight loss can sometimes be an indication of a serious health issue. Treated.com’s clinical lead, Dr. Daniel Atkinson, told the Irish Star that a man of Trump’s age could be at a heightened risk of a ‘serious health condition.’
“For a hypothetical person, who has taken on the office of President of the United States for a second term, at the age of 80, there might be several factors that could affect their weight,” Dr. Atkinson said.“An almost 80-year-old with a busy schedule might be more susceptible to certain conditions that can cause weight loss. Diabetes, for instance, can trigger weight fluctuations when the condition is uncontrolled. Blood sugar can become more difficult to regulate as we age, and insulin resistance can develop with age.”
Amid such concerns, a White House physician has released a report on Trump’s health.

The newly-released report is the most informative account of Trump’s health since he returned to the White House in January.White House physician U.S. Navy Captain Sean Barbella reported that the president is in ‘excellent cognitive and physical health.’
“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” the report reads, per Reuters.
The report noted that the 78-year-old has a history of ‘well-controlled’ high cholesterol and is taking two medications to address it – rosuvastatin and ezetimibe, generic names of the branded drugs Crestor and Zetia.

The report also referenced the scarring on Trump’s right ear, the result of a gunshot wound after an assassination attempt last July.
It stated that his hearing is normal.
Barbella’s report addressed Trump’s history with Covid-19 – he was hospitalized during a spell with the virus in October 2020 in the time of his run for reelection.
It also mentioned that the president has received all his recommended vaccinations.
